April

After watching intently throughout the Lenten season, it gave us great pain to see all that our Lord Jesus had to endure to save us. His tremendous compassion and love held Him to the cross at Calvary. They wouldn’t have needed the nails, because that love would have held Him there. When we think of the fact that the sins of each of us put Jesus on the cross; we cannot help but grieve over it. Just as certain that He died and was buried; Jesus, as He promised, also rose up from the grave after three days!!! So we have seen the bitter, and now we savor the sweet taste of victory! Victory over sin, death, and the power of the devil!

This victory motivates us. Now we have the awesome responsibility of letting every person that comes in contact with us, the power of that love. Here at St. Matthew, we have pledged ourselves to be strong beacons of His Light in our community; the community of faith, those who already know His love, and more importantly those who don’t yet know of His Love all around us. Won’t you join in reaching our community with His Love? May 2nd, with a rain date of May 9th, for all who want to participate in a meaningful way; we will be conducting a PRAYERWALK. We will be walking around our area right around our church in teams of two or three to observe our community, its people and buildings, and we will be praying specifically for those who don’t know the Savior or who may have forgotten Him. We will be asking God for opportunities to touch the lives of this community and to use our congregation in a powerful way to draw people into Christ’s Kingdom.

If you can’t physically walk with us; please commit this activity to prayer. Pray fervently that the Lord will move us all to share this great victory Jesus has won.

You may also assist by helping to prepare and serve some refreshments for the PRAYERWALKERS when they return to share and reflect.

It would be a shame not to celebrate the victory and our faith by taking action. The more we commit ourselves to winning people for the Kingdom of the Lord, the more our church will grow in vision and enthusiasm. Vision and enthusiasm can go a long way to revitalize our congregation. The Lord is risen indeed! Let’s thank Him with word and our deeds.

Blessed Easter!
