The month of May carries two important church Festivals. The Ascension of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to receive unto himself the full glory and authority at His Father’s right hand. The Disciples did not desire Him to leave them; but it was necessary for Him to go to bring His ministry to completion. From Heaven He reigns until He comes again in the clouds with His holy Angels to judge the living and the dead. He also granted His Disciples and us the privilege of sharing the Good News of His love and forgiveness to the world.

He also needed to go in order to send the Holy Spirit, the counselor and comforter. The Holy Spirit stands beside us to grant us power and gifts to accomplish the work he has for us to do.

The second Festival, having to do with the sending of the Holy Spirit, is celebrated exactly 50 days after His resurrection on the Jewish feast of the Pentecost (Greek for fifty). On that day, the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Disciples and they were filled with power and boldness to proclaim the wonderful deeds of God done through Christ Jesus. As a result 3,000 people were added to the number of believers.

The Festival of the Ascension is always on a Thursday, 40 days after Easter, and will be celebrated here on May 20th at our regular 10:30 am. Worship Service. The Festival of Pentecost will be celebrated in our 10:30 am. worship Service on Sunday, May 27th.
