May
First; a very Blessed Mother’s Day to all mothers, or those who serve in a mothering role. I couldn’t let May go by without thinking about our mothers.
May is a very exciting month for St. Matthew Lutheran Church and School as we enthusiastically embrace all of the opportunities for Revitalization! So much prayer, planning, preparation has gone into efforts to assist our congregation to focus on being an outreaching church. Those efforts are culminating in a TCN (Transforming Churches Network) consultation weekend that takes place on the weekend of May 14- 16. A consultation team from the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod’s TCN will be meeting with members, leaders, and staff to assess the strengths and areas of concern in St. Matthew Lutheran Church and School ministry. Recommendations are going to be made concerning what changes need to take place so St. Matthew Lutheran Church and School can become more missional and community focused! However, this only the beginning of what God, the Holy Spirit is going to do in revitalizing us! For this process for revitalization to be effective we rely on the Power of the Holy Spirit and the desire of our congregation to be faithful to the Great Commission.
The Great Commission: Jesus said, all authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age!
We are not finished with that work yet! There are many more disciples to make for Jesus; and many more disciples to make into better disciples!
Since the first day my family and I arrived at St. Matthew, people have been saying, we want to grow! The desire has always been in place! Now, relying on the power of God, the Holy Spirit, we will. Everyone is working together; young and old; all are seeking to make disciples for the Lord. Keep on praying for and desiring this! Get involved in the process of changing what needs to be changed and keeping strong what is already strong. I praise God that I am a part of this great time in the history of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and School ministry! Praise Him with me! Welcome God’s Revitalizing Hand!
GLORY TO HIS NAME!
